LED Lighting

The lighting of the future, the lighting that we have to use. LED Lighting is going to be what lights our homes and buildings. Incandescent and fluorescent lighting will soon be relics from the past.

LED (Lighting Emitting Diode) is a semiconductor that converts electricity into light.  These LED’s form the basis for the LED Lighting System.

What Are The Benefits?

LED Lighting has numerous advantages over Incandescent and Fluorescent Lighting. These advantages include:

1)      Directional Light. LED’s light in a single direction. Incandescent and Fluorescent Lights spread out over a large area. By having a single direction, you can place LED Lighting where you need it.

2)      Rugged and Damage Resistant - LED’s can stand the pressure of hanging lights on a ceiling fan. In the summer, ceiling fans are on all day. Incandescent bulbs need to be replaced all too often. Fluorescent Lighting can break easily and release dangerous Mercury into the atmosphere.

3)      Cool Bulbs – LED Lighting does not produce heat and is cool to the touch. Incandescent bulbs, on the other hand, become hot during use.

4)      Last Longer - LED Lighting can last as much as 30,000 hours. Incandescent bulbs last about 1,000 hours and fluorescent bulbs about 8,000 hours.

5)      Resistant to Shock – LED Lighting can handle the jerks and movement of ceiling fans and can adjust to the summer heat for outdoor use. Both incandescent and fluorescent lights can break easily, due to a shock.

6)      No Radiation - LED Lighting does not give off infrared or ultraviolet radiation that can attract the bugs.  During outdoor use, Ultraviolet Lighting attracts the bugs.

7)      Saves Energy - LED Lighting uses less energy to light a room versus Incandescent and fluorescent lighting.

What Are the Disadvantages?

The two disadvantages to using LED Lighting include:

  1. Heat Sensitivity.  LED’s are more sensitive to heat, and they are cool to the touch during use.
  2. More Expensive. LED’s are more expensive than incandescent or fluorescent lighting. LED’s last longer, are more durable, and more rugged than the other lighting.

How Can They Be Used?

LED Lighting has been developed, so that they can be used anywhere. They can be mounted on the ceiling, as part of the ceiling fan structure. They are durable, and can withstand the rocking of the ceiling fan.

In the kitchen, under the cabinet LED Lighting can illuminate the kitchen counter and sink areas. Outside, use LED Lighting to light-up the porch and garage areas.

LED Lighting has many uses and they do not flicker. You can also use them for night lights and reading lights.  Overhead, stair, and walkway lights are also good for LED Lighting. Before long, you will have LED Lighting everywhere.

Time to Replace Your Lighting

For your house, try replacing the incandescent bulbs with LED Lighting.  Do it step-by-step. Try replacing all the bulbs in one room, every month. The cost won’t seem so high, and you will see the difference. Before you know it, your whole house will have LED Lighting.

The Future is Here

LED Lighting is the wave of the future. You can save money, in the long run, by converting your home or business to LED Lighting.
